*Supplementary explanation: What is the "Shimada City Green Tea Plan"?
Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture, commemorated the 15th anniversary of its municipal organization in 2015 by launching a "city promotion" program to communicate the city's individuality and attractiveness both within and outside the city.
The project is called the "Shimada City Green Tea-ization Plan," and a series of unique projects (i.e., green tea-ization) are being implemented to promote Shimada City along with "green tea," which is the city's core industry and an important cultural asset.
For example, JA Shimada Station is being green-tea-ized (the main character of the green-tea-ization project is drawn on the 80-meter glass surface of the station concourse), Horai Bridge is being green-tea-ized (the world's largest wooden pedestrian bridge over the Oigawa River, Horai Bridge, is lit up with green LED lights), and mailboxes are being green-tea-ized (the post boxes are being repainted green tea green! Green Tea Green!) The entire city is working together to promote "green-tea-ization" while having fun at the same time.
